SYNOPSIS
Design & Build (D&B) is a type of procurement method whereby the Owner enters into a single contract with a single entity that will be responsible for both the architectural/engineering as well as construction works of the project.
This Seminar brings a group of outstanding local Engineers as well as overseas Engineers who have been working in the construction industry for numerous years. The main objective of this seminar is to cover the issues and topics, sharing of working experiences, highlighting potential problems as well as sharing the benefits of employing this type of Contract. The Asian Concrete Construction Institute (ACCI) was founded in May 2004, to foster regional integration in the concrete and construction industry. In the last few years, ACCI together with the public and private partners, have been organizing many seminars, workshops and training courses in Singapore & Malaysia.

BIODATA
Er. Tan Wee Teck graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from the
Ir. Ng Ah Kow was the Chairman for IEM (Southern Branch) for session 2003/2004. Ir. Ng graduated from University of Malaya in 1979 with a Honours Degree in Civil Engineering and started his professional career with JKR Malaysia as Jurutera Awam for Kuantan Airport Runway Extension Project; Jurutera Jalan and Bekalan Air in JKR Daerah Kuantan; Jurutera Daerah, JKR Daerah Batu Pahat and Jurutera Daerah, JKR Daerah Johor Bahru. From 2004 to 2007, Ir. Ng served as the Construction Director of the Southern Gateway Integrated Project (Gerbang Selatan Bersepadu). He retired from government service in 2007. From May 2007 to April 2008, Ir. Ng was appointed as a Government Adviser to set up the Iskandar Complex (CIQ) JKR Maintenance Team. Ir. Ng Ah Kow has been active in chairing various sub-committees and organising many activities, seminars and conferences while he was serving inthe Executive Committee of IEM (Eastern Branch) as well as IEM (Southern Branch).
Dr. Mohd. Mazlan Bin Haji Che Mat is a Quantity Surveyor by profession. Dr. Mazlan obtained his Ph.D. on Value Management in 2006 and is a Fellow of the Malaysia Institution of Surveyors. Prior to joining Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) as a lecturer in 1986, Dr. Mazlan worked for Petronas. He served as the Head of the Quantity Surveying Department, UTM from 1993 – 1999. In 1990, Dr. Mazlan served as a Visiting Fellow to the University of Canberra, Australia. He also established the MCM Associates, a quantity surveying firm in 1992 and served as the Executive Chairman of MCM Associates Sdn Bhd since 1997. Dr. Mazlan is also serving as the President of K-Provam Sdn Bhd, a value management, value engineering and lifecycle costing consulting firm. Dr.Mazlan has been involved in wide range of housing and institutional projects since 1981 as a Consulting Quantity Surveyor. Finally, Dr. Mazlan has also given numerous public seminars and workshops on his working experiences.
