Synopsis: IEM (Southern Branch) – Young Engineers Section (YES) is pleased to arrange a technical visit to the Iskandar Housing Project for all IEM members. This technical visit aims to create awareness among IEM members on the operating system of Industrialized Building System (IBS). IBS is a construction technique in which components are manufactured in a controlled environment (on or off site), transported, positioned and assembled into a structure with minimal additional site works. The site will be visited is part of the project RMK-9 developing by Iskandar Region Development Authority (IRDA). In this site, 1500 units of Iskandar Housingare being constructed using IBS method to enable cost saving and quality improvement through the reduction of labour intensity and construction standardisation. Apart from this, it offers minimal wastage, less site materials, cleaner and neater environment, controlled quality, and lower total construction costs. Details on IBS’s design, fabrication, erection, installation as well as the treatment of joints will be discussed and be shown in the technical visit.
Commitment Fees: RM 60.00 (For IEM members) RM 90.00 (For non-IEMmembers) Registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis as this visit is strictly limited to 30 participants only. Registration is confirmed only with payment received. Kindly return the reply slip to the IEM (SB) office before 5 August 2010 together with a non-refundable fee made payable to The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (Southern Branch). Alternatively, I/we could bank-in the Commitment Fees into the Institution’s Maybank Current Account (No.5-013920-15708) and to facsimile the bank-in slip as well as the Reply Slip to the Institution. Please note that the fees must be settled in advance prior to the visit. Please also be reminded that if a place is reserved and the intended participant failed to attend the visit, the fee will still have to be settled in full.
