Synopsis:

The site of World Expo Shanghai, covering a total area of 5.28 km², is located at the waterfront area on both sides of the Huangpu River, between Nanpu Bridge and Lupu Bridge.  The Expo sites span an area of 3.93 km² on the east side of the river and 1.35 km² on the west side of the river.

The Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) at the World Expo 2010 provides an opportunity for cities in the world to participate independently.  The World Expo recognizes the commonly acknowledged, original and valuable programs and practices that were designed by cities around the world to improve the quality of urban life.  This demonstrates and promotes the model solutions for future urbanization, while summarizing the achievements of previous stages of urbanization.  The World Expo also acts as a platform for these cities to share and exchange experiences in urban construction and development.  UBPA consists of four (4) exhibition fields, namely “Livable Cities”, “Sustainable Urbanization, Protection and Utilization of Historical Heritages” as well as “Technological Innovation in the Built Environment”.
