Synopsis:

Steam boilers are essential in the manufacturing sectors as well as in the power plant industries. The installation and operation of a steam boiler must satisfy the requirements, acts & regulations and standards in order to secure a safe and healthy work environment. Operation of a boiler without a valid competent person and maintenance works by unqualified contractors may be hazardous to workers and may cause severe damage to plant & equipment. This is also a violation of Malaysian laws and regulations.

This seminar will cover a general introduction to steam boilers and their operational aspects in relation to Malaysian practices. Participants will be exposed to the related boiler legislation in Malaysia, such Factories and Machineries Act (Act 139), 1967 and Regulations 1970. The matters in relation to the authorities such as the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Malaysia (DOSH/JKKP) will be briefly explained for the benefit of boiler owners and operators. Essential fittings and boiler safety will be highlighted to enhance safety awareness in boiler operations and maintenance.
