IEM (SB) Focus Discussion Groups

On Issues Regarding Local Authority Submissions

To all Consulting Engineer members in IEM (Southern Branch),

It is a fact that almost all types of engineering works have to be submitted to local authorities to obtain their approvals for the implementation of these works. However, as more and more checklists and procedures are being implemented by the local authorities for these submissions, it is inevitable that our Consulting Engineer members may have faced some difficulties in their submissions due to reasons which unfortunately, do not comply with these checklists and procedures.

With this in mind, IEM (SB) has decided on the formation of Focus Discussion Groups, among our members who are Consulting Engineers, to highlight and discuss some of these issues pertaining to local authority submissions and approvals. It is the aspiration of IEM (SB) that at the end of these Focus Discussion Groups deliberations,that we can issue a formal memorandum to the respective local authority, to highlight these issues for their attention and joint resolution.

In order to start the ball rolling, we wish to request our Consulting Engineer members to list out their issues with any local authorities in the state of Johor by filling up the form below. The forms can be forwarded to IEM (SB) Secretariat Office, either via e-mail, facsimile or post, not later than 31 December 2010. After the Executive Committee has received the comments from the members, we will then organise a discussion session with the members, provided adequate feedback is obtained. In the event this exercise is successful, flyers will be issued to inform our members the details of the discussion session.
