Synopsis

Steel applications in buildings are relatively common, but the important question is how we maximize the utilization of steel materials for greater optimization and efficiency for both the engineering designs and construction works. In this half-day seminar presentation the speaker, Mr Santan Pathmanandavel, will be sharing his knowledge and insights of steel applications for pre-engineered buildings, structural decking and lightweight trusses based on his vast experience in the same subject matter. The accuracy of the steel structure designs, by understanding the needs of the respective project will also provide greater efficiency on site with detailed planning at early stages of construction. Steel is also a sustainable construction material that plays a vital role towards a green building environment. Among the areas which will be presented includes market trends and current practices for pre-engineered buildings, structural decking and lightweight trusses.

Topic Outline

  • Features of Pre-Engineered Buildings, Lightweight Trusses and Structural Decking
  • Design approach
  • Fabrication and installation
  • Market challenges
  • Local, regional, and international trends
