Synopsis Precast Concrete, is it really the way forward? Current applications of precast concrete in structures will be discussed. Issues to be considered with the use of pre-casting will be analyzed; including design & constructability, time & cost, co-ordination & logistics, site conditions & safety, workers, management & supervision, and the finished quality of works. Discussion will include a general brief on precast concrete design approach, including usage of Tekla software for precast design & detailing, and also for project site monitoring & management. Discussion will also include general briefs on precast manufacturing, and precast building construction & methodology.

About The Speaker Mr Michael Khor has been involved in the Precast Concrete Industry for the past 23 years, since graduating from the National University of Singapore in 1987. He is experienced in the Co-ordination Aspects, Design Management, Project Management, as well as Production Management involving Precast Concrete Components, and he specializes mainly in Structural Components. Mike has extensive experience actively gained from working on numerous projects both on land and offshore in Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. Over the years he has been involved in Precast Concrete Structures & Components for Office Buildings, Flatted Factories, Hi-Tech Manufacturing Facilities, Warehouses and Logistic Centers, Shopping Malls, Government Schools, Clinics & Hospitals, Residential Housing Blocks, and also Marine Jetties, Container Wharfs & Material Handling Berths. Mike is currently a Director with JEKS Engineering S.B.; Design, Manufacturing, & Construction Specialists in Precast Concrete.
