To share with participants difference between post-installed anchor and post-installed rebar design theory. To also showcase the use of design software (PROFIS Anchor and Rebar) in calculation for post-installed rebar solutions.

An introduction to the scope and applications of the post-installed rebars and review of the current design methods for designing post-installed starter bars commonly use in the industry. Overview of the new design guideline from European Technical Approval Guidelines. Technical Report TR023, and how it complies with EC2. Introduction to Hilti’s HIT Rebar Design that is also according to the principles of TR023 and EC2.

A demonstration on software for post-installed rebars, PROFIS Rebar, that is used in the calculation of embedment depth required as according to the EC2 and ETAG TR023. Demonstration on how it works and the limitations and assumptions made that relate to site conditions. Also sharing some project references, example The Exchange 106 Project. What would happen if products are used inappropriately? A sharing session discussing about examples of actual cases where anchor and rebar connections were not designed/installed correctly and the failures that occurred.

Biodata Speaker

Ir. Ng Beng Hooi, graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor in 2005 with a B.Eng in Civil Engineering. He worked in consultants and suppliers for more than 12 years. He has been working in Hilti Malaysia since 2015 and has undergone basic and advanced training by Hilti in post installed anchor and rebar design concepts. Currently he is working as Head of Engineering in Hilti Malaysia, leading engineering team in providing post installed anchor, post installed rebar and firestop (Fastening and Protection) for Structure, M&E and Façade applications.
