Synopsis

MTS Fibromat (M) Sdn Bhd has been involved in multiple projects offering solution to issues with regards to slope, soft embankment, slope stability and various geotechnical engineering issues in Malaysia. This presentation provides a basic knowledge on the design methodology into the usage of geosynthetic production, its functions, applications as well as some key case studies for participants to have a firmer grasp on technical issues and its solution. Apart from that the objective of this presentation is to assist participants in getting to know the various technical terms defined in non-woven geotextile, different types of geo synthetic products including green environment products, reinforced slope system and reclamation works system. At this talk, Fibromat will also lay out a few of their new products such as Geosteps, Geocords, Incomat and Fibrobase for the participants.

About Speaker

Mr. Lian Y.K. Har graduated from University of Ottawa Canada in 1984 with a degree in Civil Engineering. In the following year, he graduated in Engineering management which is a combined course for both management and engineering and began his working career as a Project Engineer for a construction firm in Langkawi, Kedah. Mr. Lian has more than 25 years of experiences in the design and usage of geosynthetic and erosion control blanket products in Malaysia and overseas. He currently heading the Technical Department for MTS Fibromat Sdn. Bhd.

He back to Ottawa, Canada in 1990 to continue his engineering career as a Consultant for one of the well-known consultant firm in Ottawa, J.L. Richards and Associates Engineering Consultants. He was involved in design road and highways as well as sanitary and storm services. He was also involved in a few projects dealing with geosynthetic products for highways and roads. He back to Malaysia in 1996, as a pioneer in setting up the technical department for Maccafferi specializing in gabions, Reno Mattress, Terramesh and Terramesh Green reinforced wall system. He had given a lot of presentations on the usage of reinforced earth wall system for slopes and river training to prevent scouring of river banks. In 2011, he was with German Geosynthetic company, NAUE before he joined MTS Fibromat Sdn. Bhd.
