Synopsis

Electrical Safety Practices and Compliance in Malaysia is governed by THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY ACT 1990 (ACT 447). The Electrical Safety Operation and Management must be carried out by competent person who are certified by Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) of Malaysia. The law covers the licensing of electrical installations, plant and equipment related to safety of persons and the efficient use of electricity.

About Speaker

Puan Nazlin oobtained her bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University Putra Malaysia in 2001. She started her career as Assistant Director & Executive Safety at Energy Commission, Central Region in 2001, and in 2011, she became the Regional Director in Sabah Region. Currently, she is the Regional Director at Energy Commission for Johor. She is responsible for reviewing policies and guidelines on electrical fence installations and wiring standards, and investigate the fatality of electrical and piped gas-related accidents. She also provides technical advice on the legal and security installations to CIDB, PKK, KPDN, SIRIM, and DSM. She did involve in Technical Publications on Electrical Safety Installation brochures, pamphlets, and posters. She is one of the Energy Commission Examiners for Competent Engineer, Chargeman, and Wireman assessments.
