Synopsis
This talk delves into the implementation of Malaysia's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA), which aims to enhance energy efficiency practices and reduce carbon emissions in line with the nation’s sustainable development goals. The discussion explores expectations of stakeholders, regulatory framework, key provisions of the Act, as well as its implications for industries, and businesses. Feedback and suggestions on Operational matter with regards to Regulator Functions for compliance, and the role of stakeholders in fostering a culture of energy conservation. The discussion hopes to support Malaysia's transition toward a greener economy and fulfills its international climate commitments.
About the Speaker
Ir. Dr. Sanjay has over 35 years of experience spanning industry, government, international organizations, and academia. He holds a degree from UTM and completed postgraduate studies at Kyushu University, Japan. In 2019, he received the ASEAN Excellence in Energy Management Award. His career began at Tenaga Nasional Berhad, and he has since held key roles at institutions such as University Technology Malaysia, UNDP, Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) Singapore, GE Asia-Pacific, ASEAN Centre of Energy, and SEDA Malaysia. He is currently the COO of the Energy Commission and serves on the Advisory Board of the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC).
