Synopsis

As Malaysia experiences rapid growth in industrial buildings, especially data centers, logistics hubs, and high-value manufacturing plants, the need for a roofing system that is safe, durable, and globally certified has become essential. This CPD session presents the FM Approved TPO Roofing System, engineered to meet strict international standards for fire performance, wind uplift resistance, and long-term waterproofing reliability.

The seminar begins with a clear explanation of FM Approvals and why it matters. Participants will learn how FM Global evaluates roofing assemblies through intensive testing, including fire propagation, wind uplift, hail impact, and system durability, to ensure risk reduction and compliance for mission-critical facilities. The talk will explain how an FM Approved roofing system directly impacts building insurance requirements, developer specifications, and long-term operational reliability. Beyond supplying materials, strict installation controls are supported by professional inspection technology. This includes the use of Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) systems to verify membrane integrity, ensuring that every welded seam and detail termination is fully watertight before handover. Such inspection tools significantly reduce post-construction risks and give clients confidence that the system performs exactly as certified.

Participants will also gain an understanding of the technology behind modern FM Approved TPO membranes, including their heat-welded seams, UV resistance, reflectivity, energy-efficient properties, and advantages over conventional roofing systems. Real case studies will showcase the delivery of durable, insurer-compliant, and leak-free roofs for industrial and data center projects nationwide. The seminar concludes with practical design guidelines for consultants, covering insulation integration, securement methods, and long-term maintainability, ensuring that consultants select systems that perform, comply, and deliver measurable value to developers and building owners.
