Synosis

Steam being the most critical resource used in industries ranging from power generation and process industries in paper and wood products, food and beverages, oleo chemical, processing plants to cooling and heating in buildings.

The objectives of this course is to provide the conceptual and understanding of the boiler system from design to efficiency perspectives together with the introduction of proper selection of efficient control and safety appurtenances. This is to ensure that the boiler owners, engineers and operators are able to select and operate the boiler in a safe and efficient manner.

This course will introduce the boiler and various steam systems, standard practices that any engineer and operator should follow to ensure safe, continuous and efficient operation as well as taking the necessary corrective measures to avoid dangerous and costly occurrences,

The course will be also beneficial to Energy Managers and Auditors in managing thermal efficiency meeting the requirements of the new Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) requirement.

In summary, this course will provide the participants with experience in boiler and steam, selection of boiler and its appurtenances, optimizing steam system to improve efficiency and best practices in maintenance and operation to achieve high system reliability. At the end of the course, we hope plant engineers and operators will be able to optimize the boiler and steam system and reduce the energy consumption hence reducing cost of energy and GHG emission.
