  1. Achieving project success is an exception rather than the norm. PMI (PMI, 2013) reported that for organizations with low Organizational Project Management Maturity Level, only 39% their projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meeting their original business goal. Thus, every project manager had definitely been involved in some unsuccessful or troubled projects during his or her career. When such situation arises, what should a project manager do? Whether a troubled project ultimately succeeds or fails depends on the effectiveness of the actions taken to recover the project. This workshop is designed to enable project managers to take effective action to improve the probability of recovering troubled projects.
  2. Does training results in measurable behavioral change to improve job performance and business RESULTS? This is one of the key questions among many leaders in relation to Learning and Development (L&D) investment. While many leaders and professional organizations like PMI is highly committed to facilitate talent development, the IMPACT of L&D is questionable. 2017 Global Learning Transfer Research report published by Lever- Transfer of Learning and Lentum Ltd revealed that only 10%-20% of any new skills and behaviors are applied in the workplace (transferoflearning.com). Therefore, most training is not achieving the expected IMPACT. This paper will describe 3 strategies to improve the impact of training through effective Learning Transfer Strategies based on global best practices and the speaker’s hands-on experience in managing learning transfer from international projects.

Dr. J.Prebagaran is a result driven project management professional. He graduated in BSc (Chemistry), MSc (Emergency Planning & Response), PhD (Engineering Business Management). He has 29 years of working experience in management of projects in various government and private organization. He has proven record of delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects involving international organization. Dr. J.Prebagaran is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Project Risk Management Professional (RMP) by Project Management Institute (USA). He was a member of multi billion international ship building project management team. His hands-on project management experience is valuable to ensure effective training. He was project manager for analysis, design and implementation of ship crew operation and maintenance team training for this ship building project. He is Accredited Competency Professional by Institute of Leadership & Management (UK) and Certified Trainer of ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’. He is also an Advanced TQM facilitator, ISO 9001:2000 QMS Lead Auditor and competent trainer for ISO 14000. He has conducted Training Analysis and Design Course for Certification Program by Chartered Institute of Training & Development (UK) managed by SMR Resources (M).
